Exodus 37-Leviticus 6 Recap | Drawing Near to a Holy God
Saturday Mar 08, 2025
Saturday Mar 08, 2025
Episode Summary:
In this episode of No Dusty Bibles, we reflect on the transition from Exodus to Leviticus, exploring the completion of the Tabernacle, the beginning of the sacrificial system, and God's invitation to holiness and worship. As we dive into Exodus 37 - Leviticus 6, we’ll see how God not only called His people to live set apart but also provided a way for them to draw near to Him. Through worship, obedience, and repentance, we are reminded that God’s presence is available to us today through Jesus.
Key Highlights from the Episode
Overview of the Passage:
Exodus 37-40: The Israelites complete the Tabernacle exactly as God commanded, and His glory fills the sacred space (Exodus 40:34). This moment marks the fulfillment of God’s promise to dwell among His people.
Leviticus 1-2: God introduces the burnt and grain offerings, showing that worship requires both surrender and gratitude.
Leviticus 3-4: The fellowship and sin offerings reveal that God desires both relationship and repentance from His people.
Leviticus 5-6: The guilt offering emphasizes the need for taking responsibility for sin and making restitution when we wrong others.
Through these passages, we see a central truth: God is holy, and He desires to dwell with us—but He also calls us to worship and obedience in response to His presence.
Key Themes or Lessons:
God’s Presence Fills Our Worship – When the Israelites completed the Tabernacle, God’s glory filled it (Exodus 40:34). This moment shows us that obedience and preparation make room for God’s presence in our lives.
Sacrifice and Worship Go Hand-in-Hand – The burnt offering (Leviticus 1) symbolized total surrender to God, and the fellowship offering (Leviticus 3) was a way to celebrate relationship with Him. Worship isn’t just about singing—it’s about offering our lives to God in gratitude and devotion (Romans 12:1).
God Provides a Way for Us to Draw Near – The sin and guilt offerings (Leviticus 4-6) show that sin separates us from God, but He always provides a way for forgiveness and restoration. Today, Jesus is our ultimate sacrifice (Hebrews 10:19-22), allowing us to confidently approach God’s presence.
Devotional Application: "A God Who Draws Near"
Can you imagine what it must have been like when God’s glory visibly filled the Tabernacle? After generations of slavery, wandering, and waiting, God’s presence finally rested among His people.
But here’s the challenge—His holiness was overwhelming. The people couldn’t just walk in freely. They needed sacrifices, priests, and purification to draw near to Him.
This is where Leviticus comes in. God wasn’t trying to create barriers—He was creating a way for His people to experience Him safely. Each offering—the burnt, grain, fellowship, sin, and guilt offerings—wasn’t just about rituals. They were about relationship, atonement, and obedience.
Here’s the incredible truth: We don’t have to bring sacrifices anymore. Why? Because Jesus became the perfect sacrifice for us.
Hebrews 10:19-22 says:"Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus… let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings."
God’s presence isn’t locked away in a tent or behind a veil anymore—it is available to us daily. The real question is: Are we taking advantage of this access?
Too often, we keep God at a distance. We let busyness, guilt, or distractions keep us from drawing near to Him. But the same God who filled the Tabernacle now dwells in us (1 Corinthians 3:16).
Are we making space for Him in our lives? Are we treating our time in His presence as sacred and essential?
This week, let’s commit to drawing near—to worshiping fully, repenting quickly, and resting in His presence.
Reflection Prompts:
Prioritizing God’s Presence: The Israelites witnessed God’s glory filling the Tabernacle. How can you create space for God’s presence in your daily life?
Sacrifice as Worship: The burnt offering symbolized total surrender. Is there something in your life that God is asking you to surrender as an act of worship?
Responding to Sin: Leviticus emphasizes repentance and restoration. Do you have any areas in your life where you need to seek forgiveness or make things right?
Looking Ahead to Leviticus 7-16
Next time, we’ll explore:
Leviticus 7-10: More details on offerings and the priesthood, including the tragic story of Nadab and Abihu, who failed to approach God with reverence.
Leviticus 11-15: The clean and unclean laws, teaching Israel how to live set apart from surrounding nations.
Leviticus 16: The Day of Atonement, one of the most significant moments in Israel’s worship, pointing to Jesus as our ultimate High Priest.
These chapters will challenge us to think about holiness, obedience, and the cost of sin—but most importantly, they’ll point us to God’s grace that allows us to draw near.
I can’t wait to explore these truths with you!

Leviticus 5-6 | Owning Our Mistakes and Making Things Right
Friday Mar 07, 2025
Friday Mar 07, 2025
Episode Summary:
In this episode of No Dusty Bibles, we continue our journey through Leviticus 5-6, exploring the guilt offering and God’s instructions for confession, restitution, and making things right. These chapters remind us that sin affects both our relationship with God and our relationships with others. While we often struggle to admit our wrongs, God calls us to true repentance—one that involves not just confession, but action. Through Christ, we are completely forgiven, but that grace should lead us to a life of honesty, integrity, and restoration.
Key Highlights from the Episode
Overview of the Passage:
Leviticus 5: This chapter addresses sins of omission—when someone unknowingly or unintentionally broke a command but later became aware of it. Instead of ignoring their mistakes, they were required to acknowledge their sin and bring a guilt offering to restore their standing before God.
Leviticus 6: This chapter expands on the guilt offering, focusing on sins that involved wronging others—stealing, deceiving, or failing to return what was entrusted to them. The offender was required to confess, make restitution, and add an extra portion to what was owed (Leviticus 6:5) before offering their sacrifice to God.
Key Themes or Lessons:
True Repentance Requires Action – Saying “I’m sorry” is important, but biblical repentance includes making amends (Leviticus 6:4-5). God calls us to take responsibility for our actions and, when possible, restore what was broken.
Sin Affects More Than Just Us – Many people think of sin as a personal issue, but Leviticus 6 reminds us that our choices impact those around us. Whether through deception, dishonesty, or neglect, our actions can harm relationships, and God calls us to seek both His forgiveness and reconciliation with others.
Jesus is Our Ultimate Guilt Offering – While Israel had to offer sacrifices for their sins, Jesus became the perfect sacrifice for us (Hebrews 10:10-12). Because of Him, we are completely forgiven—but His grace should lead us to live differently, walking in humility and restoration.
Devotional Application: "Owning Our Mistakes and Making Things Right"
Leviticus 5-6 challenges us to own up to our mistakes, even when they’re unintentional. We live in a culture that often minimizes sin, avoids responsibility, or shifts blame—but God calls His people to be different.
Confession isn’t about guilt—it’s about freedom. When we bring our failures before God, He is faithful to forgive (1 John 1:9), and when we take steps to make things right, we experience peace and restored relationships.
Here’s the heart of today’s message: True repentance isn’t just about words—it’s about action. If we’ve wronged someone, we shouldn’t just feel bad—we should seek to make it right. If we’ve neglected to do what is right, we should take responsibility and change course. This isn’t about earning forgiveness—it’s about living in the integrity and freedom that God desires for us.
Are we willing to admit when we’re wrong? And are we taking steps to restore what’s been broken?
Reflection Prompts:
Admitting When We’re Wrong: Leviticus 5 teaches that even unintentional sins required confession. Are there areas where you’ve been hesitant to acknowledge a mistake before God? What’s holding you back?
Restoring What’s Broken: God required restitution for wrongs committed against others. Is there someone in your life you need to reconcile with? What step can you take today to make things right?
Living with Integrity: A heart devoted to God values honesty and responsibility. How can you reflect God’s character by owning your mistakes, seeking forgiveness, and walking in truth?
Looking Ahead to Leviticus 7-8
Next time, we’ll explore:
Leviticus 7: Instructions on peace offerings and what it means to live in fellowship with God.
Leviticus 8: The ordination of Aaron and his sons, revealing God’s calling and preparation for leadership.
These chapters will challenge us to think about how we approach God in worship and how we serve Him in obedience.

Leviticus 3-4 | The Cost of Peace and Forgiveness
Thursday Mar 06, 2025
Thursday Mar 06, 2025
Episode Summary:
In this episode of No Dusty Bibles, we continue our journey through Leviticus 3-4, exploring the fellowship offering and the sin offering. These sacrifices reveal profound truths about our relationship with God—our need for peace with Him and the cost of forgiveness. While these Old Testament offerings may seem distant, they ultimately point us to Jesus, the perfect sacrifice. Join us as we reflect on how we can live in gratitude, obedience, and the peace that Christ has given us.
Key Highlights from the Episode
Overview of the Passage:
Leviticus 3: The fellowship (peace) offering was a voluntary sacrifice meant to express gratitude and communion with God. Unlike other sacrifices, a portion was eaten, symbolizing shared fellowship between the worshiper and the Lord.
Leviticus 4: The sin offering was required when someone unintentionally sinned. This offering emphasized that even unintentional sins required atonement, showing the seriousness of sin and God's provision for restoration.
Key Themes or Lessons:
Worship is More Than Seeking Forgiveness – The peace offering was a reminder that God desires more than repentance—He longs for fellowship with us (Leviticus 3:16). Worship is about celebrating our relationship with Him, not just seeking something from Him.
Sin Has a Cost, Even When Unintentional – The sin offering shows that sin, even when committed unknowingly, separates us from God (Leviticus 4:2). But in His mercy, He provides a way for cleansing and restoration.
Jesus is Our Perfect Sacrifice – These offerings foreshadow Christ, who made the ultimate atonement for our sins (Hebrews 9:26). Because of Him, we don’t need repeated sacrifices—we have full forgiveness and lasting peace with God.
Devotional Application: "The Cost of Peace and Forgiveness"
The fellowship offering reminds us that worship is not just about repentance—it’s about celebrating God’s presence. Do we take time to thank God, enjoy His presence, and worship Him out of love rather than duty?
The sin offering teaches us that even unintentional sins need atonement. Sometimes, we ignore or downplay sin in our lives, but God calls us to bring it to Him and receive His cleansing.
Here’s the heart of today’s message: Forgiveness isn’t free—it comes at a cost. For Israel, that cost was a sacrificial offering, but for us, Jesus paid the price once and for all. Because of His sacrifice, we can live in peace with God—not just avoiding sin, but walking daily in gratitude and obedience.
Are we fully appreciating the gift of God’s forgiveness? And are we living in the peace He has given us?
Reflection Prompts:
Living in Gratitude: The fellowship offering was about celebrating peace with God. How can you cultivate a deeper sense of gratitude for your relationship with Him this week?
Responding to Sin: The sin offering showed that even unintentional sins required forgiveness. How do you respond when you recognize sin in your life? Do you bring it to God quickly, or do you ignore it?
Walking in Peace with God: Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, we now have peace with God (Romans 5:1). How can you live in that peace daily, especially when you feel unworthy, discouraged, or distant from Him?
Looking Ahead to Leviticus 5-6
Next time, we’ll explore:
Leviticus 5: The guilt offering, which teaches us about taking responsibility for our wrongs.
Leviticus 6: Instructions for the priests, revealing how God calls us to integrity and faithfulness in worship.
These passages will challenge us to examine our hearts and see how God’s grace calls us to responsibility and restoration.
Final Encouragement:
Thank you for joining me today on No Dusty Bibles! If today’s episode encouraged you, share it with a friend or leave a review—it helps others grow in their love for God’s Word.

Leviticus 1-2 | Leviticus: Holiness, Sacrifice, and Surrender
Wednesday Mar 05, 2025
Wednesday Mar 05, 2025
Episode Summary:
In this episode of No Dusty Bibles, we begin our journey through Leviticus, a book that reveals God's holiness and His desire for His people to live set apart. We start with Leviticus 1-2, where God introduces the burnt offering and the grain offering—sacrifices that symbolize total surrender and gratitude. These offerings remind us that worship is not just about rituals but about giving our whole hearts to God. Join us as we explore how these ancient practices point us to Christ and challenge us to live lives fully surrendered to Him.
Key Highlights from the Episode
Overview of the Passage:
Leviticus 1: The burnt offering, completely consumed on the altar, symbolizes full devotion and surrender to God (Leviticus 1:9).
Leviticus 2: The grain offering, made of the finest flour, represents gratitude and dedication (Leviticus 2:1-2).
These offerings were not just religious duties but acts of worship that reflected the heart of the giver.
Key Themes or Lessons:
Total Surrender to God – The burnt offering required complete consumption by fire, illustrating full dedication. Similarly, Romans 12:1 calls us to be living sacrifices, surrendering every part of our lives to God.
Worship as a Daily Offering – The grain offering was given as a sign of thankfulness and devotion. Our daily choices—our attitudes, time, and actions—should reflect hearts devoted to God.
Christ, the Ultimate Sacrifice – These Old Testament offerings point forward to Jesus, who became the perfect sacrifice for our sins (Hebrews 10:10). Because of Him, we no longer need animal sacrifices, but we are still called to offer ourselves fully to God.
Devotional Application: "A Life of Surrender"
Leviticus may seem like a book of rituals, but its deeper message is about our response to a holy God.
God desires our whole hearts. Just as the burnt offering was completely given to God, He calls us to full devotion—not just in words but in how we live.
Worship goes beyond rituals. The grain offering was an act of gratitude. We, too, are called to live lives of thankfulness, recognizing that everything we have is from Him.
True worship is a lifestyle. Worship isn’t just what happens on Sunday; it’s in our obedience, our choices, and our daily surrender to God.
Are we truly offering our best to God, or are we holding something back?
Reflection Prompts:
Surrendering to God: The burnt offering symbolized complete dedication. Are there areas in your life where you’re holding back from God? What would it look like to surrender them fully?
Worship Beyond Rituals: The grain offering was an act of thanksgiving. How can you incorporate gratitude into your daily life as an act of worship?
Living as a Sacrifice: Romans 12:1 calls us to offer ourselves as living sacrifices. What is one practical way you can surrender more fully to God this week?
Looking Ahead to Leviticus 3-4
Next time, we’ll dive into:
Leviticus 3: The peace offering and what it teaches us about communion with God.
Leviticus 4: The sin offering and how God provides atonement for our failures.
We’ll see how these sacrifices point us to the grace of Jesus Christ and remind us that God’s mercy is always available.
Final Encouragement:
Thank you for joining me today on No Dusty Bibles! If today’s episode encouraged you, share it with a friend or leave a review—it helps others grow in their love for God’s Word.

Exodus 39-40 | God’s Glory in Our Obedience
Tuesday Mar 04, 2025
Tuesday Mar 04, 2025
Episode Summary:
In this episode of No Dusty Bibles, we close out the book of Exodus with Exodus 39-40, where the Tabernacle is completed and God’s glory fills His dwelling place. After months of preparation and faithful obedience, the Israelites witness a powerful moment—the visible presence of God resting among them. This chapter reminds us that God’s presence is the goal, and through Jesus, we are now His dwelling place. As we wrap up Exodus, we reflect on how God faithfully leads, rescues, and desires to be near His people, both then and now.
Key Highlights from the Episode
Overview of the Passage:
Exodus 39: The priestly garments are made exactly as God commanded, including the ephod, breastpiece, and robe, each symbolizing Israel’s spiritual leadership and intercession.
Exodus 40: The Tabernacle is assembled, and every piece—the Ark of the Covenant, the lampstand, the altar—is placed in its designated space.
God’s Glory Descends: Once everything is completed in obedience, God’s presence visibly fills the Tabernacle, a clear sign of His approval and nearness.
Key Themes or Lessons:
Obedience Prepares the Way for God’s Presence – The Israelites followed every instruction carefully, and the result was God dwelling among them (Exodus 40:34-38). Our obedience makes room for more of His presence in our lives.
God Desires to Dwell with His People – The Tabernacle was not just about worship rituals; it was about relationship. Today, through Jesus, we have direct access to God (1 Corinthians 3:16).
Finishing Well Matters – The book of Exodus ends with completion. Following through on what God calls us to do brings His presence and power into our lives (Philippians 1:6).
Devotional Application: "Making Room for God’s Glory"
The final verses of Exodus give us a full-circle moment—God rescued His people, led them, provided for them, and now, He dwells with them.
What does this mean for us today?
God’s presence is still the goal. More than blessings, miracles, or provision, what we truly need is Him.
Obedience leads to intimacy. The Israelites followed God’s plan, and His glory filled their midst. When we follow His ways, we draw closer to Him.
We are now His dwelling place. Through Jesus, we don’t need a Tabernacle—we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. The question is, are we making space for Him in our lives?
Reflection Prompts:
Obedience and God’s Presence: The Israelites followed God’s instructions, and His glory filled the Tabernacle. Are there areas in your life where obedience is making room for more of God’s presence?
Experiencing God’s Nearness: The Tabernacle was a sign of God’s desire to be with His people. Do you recognize God’s nearness in your daily life? How can you cultivate more awareness of His presence?
Finishing What God Calls Us To: Exodus ends with the completion of the Tabernacle. Is there something God has called you to do that you need to follow through on? How can you take the next step in faithfulness?
Conclusion to the Book of Exodus
As we wrap up Exodus, let’s reflect on God’s faithfulness throughout this book.
We began with a people in slavery, crying out for deliverance—we end with a free people, worshiping a God who now dwells among them.
This book has shown us that God is:✅ Our Rescuer✅ Our Provider✅ Our Guide✅ Our Dwelling Place
Whether you are in a season of struggle, waiting, or fulfillment, know this: God is with you every step of the way.
Looking Ahead to Leviticus
Next week, we’ll step into Leviticus, where we’ll explore:
God’s instructions for worship, sacrifices, and holiness
How these laws point us to Jesus, our ultimate High Priest
What it means to live in a relationship with a holy God
This next part of our journey through Scripture will deepen our understanding of God’s holiness and His desire for us to walk closely with Him.

Exodus 37-38 | Obedience as Worship
Monday Mar 03, 2025
Monday Mar 03, 2025
Episode Summary:
In this episode of No Dusty Bibles, we explore Exodus 37-38, where the Israelites carefully follow God’s instructions to construct the sacred objects of the Tabernacle. Though these chapters may seem like a long list of building details, they reveal a deeper truth: God cares about faithfulness in the small things. Just as the Israelites honored God through their craftsmanship and obedience, we too are called to worship Him through the details of our daily lives.
Key Highlights from the Episode
Overview of the Passage:
Exodus 37-38 details the construction of the sacred objects of the Tabernacle, including:
The Ark of the Covenant – The dwelling place of God’s presence.
The Table for the Bread of Presence – Symbolizing God’s provision.
The Lampstand – Representing the light of God guiding His people.
The Altar and Courtyard – Places of worship, sacrifice, and cleansing.
Every piece was crafted according to God’s precise instructions, reflecting His holiness and order.
Key Themes or Lessons:
Obedience in the Details Matters – The Israelites carefully followed God’s design, showing that faithfulness in small things is an act of worship (Luke 16:10).
God is Worthy of Excellence – The Tabernacle was built with the best materials and craftsmanship, reminding us to give our best to God in all we do (Colossians 3:23).
Worship is a Lifestyle – The Tabernacle wasn’t just a building; it was a dwelling place for God’s presence. Our lives should reflect a heart prepared for worship (Romans 12:1).
Devotional Application: "Faithfulness in the Small Things"
It’s easy to be excited about big moments of faith, but what about the daily, unnoticed acts of obedience? The Israelites’ careful craftsmanship reminds us that God sees our faithfulness, even when no one else does.
Are you showing up when no one is watching?
Are you honoring God in your daily routines?
Are you building your life as a dwelling place for Him?
When we choose faithfulness in the small things, we cultivate a heart of worship and obedience, just like the Israelites did in building the Tabernacle.
Reflection Prompts:
Faithful in the Small Things: The Israelites followed God’s instructions precisely. Are there areas in your life where you need to be more intentional about faithfulness, even in small, unseen tasks?
Worship in the Details: Every part of the Tabernacle had a purpose. How can you view your daily responsibilities—work, family, serving others—as an opportunity to worship God?

Exodus 27-36 Recap | A Willing Heart and the Presence of God
Saturday Mar 01, 2025
Saturday Mar 01, 2025
Episode Summary:
In this episode of No Dusty Bibles, we reflect on Exodus 27-36, where God gives detailed instructions for the Tabernacle, the Israelites experience both failure and renewal, and we witness the beauty of a willing and generous heart in response to God’s presence. Join us as we explore what it means to live a life of obedience, worship, and generosity, trusting that when we surrender to God, He always provides more than enough.
Key Highlights from the Episode
Overview of the Passage:
Exodus 27-30: God outlines the construction of the Tabernacle, priesthood, and sacrifices, preparing a dwelling place among His people.
Exodus 31-32: While Moses is on Mount Sinai, Israel falls into idolatry, crafting the golden calf instead of waiting on God.
Exodus 33-34: Moses pleads for God’s presence, declaring, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here” (Exodus 33:15). God renews His covenant, emphasizing His love and faithfulness.
Exodus 35-36: The Israelites give willingly for the Tabernacle’s construction, bringing so much that Moses has to tell them to stop! (Exodus 36:6).
Key Themes or Lessons:
God Desires to Dwell with His People – The Tabernacle was not just a structure; it represented God’s presence among His people. Today, through Jesus, God dwells in us (1 Corinthians 3:16).
Our Response to God’s Presence Matters – Israel’s journey reveals the contrast between idolatry and worship, reminding us to wait on God instead of turning to substitutes.
Willing Hearts Lead to Abundant Generosity – When we recognize God’s goodness, generosity becomes our natural response (Exodus 35:21). God calls us to give with joy, trust, and willingness.
Devotional Application: "A Heart That Overflows"
The Israelites who once turned to a golden calf later gave so much for the Tabernacle that there was an overflow. What changed? They encountered God’s mercy.
This passage challenges us:
Are we worshiping God with our whole hearts, or are we settling for "golden calves" in our lives?
Are we trusting God enough to give freely of our time, resources, and talents?
Do we approach generosity as a joyful act of worship?
When we truly recognize all that God has given us, our response will be like the Israelites’—willing, joyful, and abundant.

Reflection Prompts:

Waiting on God Instead of Wandering: The Israelites made a golden calf because they grew impatient. Are you trusting in God’s timing, or are you tempted to create your own solutions?

Exodus 35-36 | Hearts and Overflowing Generosity
Friday Feb 28, 2025
Friday Feb 28, 2025
Episode Summary:
In this episode of No Dusty Bibles, we explore Exodus 35-36, where the Israelites respond to God’s call with overwhelming generosity in building the Tabernacle. Their willing hearts and joyful giving demonstrate what it means to partner with God in His work—not out of obligation, but out of love. Join us as we reflect on how a heart stirred by gratitude leads to abundant generosity in all areas of life.
Key Highlights from the Episode
Overview of the Passage:
Exodus 35:
After renewing their covenant with God, Moses shares instructions for building the Tabernacle.
The people respond with a willing spirit, bringing offerings of gold, silver, fine linen, and other materials for the work.
Women use their skills to spin fabric, and craftsmen prepare to construct what God designed.
Exodus 36:
The people give so much that Moses has to tell them to stop bringing more! (Exodus 36:5-7).
Their generosity results in more than enough for the Tabernacle to be built.
Key Themes or Lessons:
Generosity Begins with a Willing Heart – The people weren’t forced to give; their hearts were stirred (Exodus 35:21). True generosity flows from a heart of gratitude, not obligation.
God’s Provision is More Than Enough – The Israelites’ giving resulted in abundance. When we trust God with what we have, He multiplies and provides beyond what we imagine (Exodus 36:6-7).
Giving is an Act of Worship – Whether it’s our resources, time, or skills, generosity is an offering to God. When we offer back what He’s given us, we participate in His greater purpose (2 Corinthians 9:7).
Devotional Application: "Giving with Joy"
The Israelites didn’t give out of pressure or guilt—they gave because their hearts were moved. When we recognize all that God has given us, generosity becomes a joyful response.
This applies not just to finances, but to our time, talents, and service.
Are we offering God our best?
Are we holding back because of fear, or are we trusting Him?
Do we see generosity as worship?
Giving isn’t about what we lose—it’s about what God does through our faithfulness.

Reflection Prompts:
A Willing Heart: The Israelites gave because their hearts were stirred. When was the last time you felt moved to give—whether through time, talents, or resources?
Trusting God’s Provision: Do you hesitate to give freely because of worry about having enough? How does this passage challenge you to trust God’s provision in your generosity?

Exodus 33-34 | Seeking God's Presence, Not Just His Blessings
Thursday Feb 27, 2025
Thursday Feb 27, 2025
Episode Summary:
In this episode of No Dusty Bibles, we explore Exodus 33-34, where Moses encounters God in a powerful way. After Israel’s failure with the golden calf, God offers to send them to the Promised Land—but without His presence. Moses refuses to settle for blessings without God Himself and boldly asks, “Show me Your glory.” These chapters remind us that the greatest gift God gives us is Himself. Join us as we reflect on what it means to truly seek God—not just for what He can do, but for who He is.
Key Highlights from the Episode
Overview of the Passage:
Exodus 33:
God tells Moses He will send Israel to the Promised Land but will not go with them because of their sin.
Moses pleads with God, saying, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here” (Exodus 33:15).
Moses asks to see God’s glory, and God reveals that He will pass by and proclaim His name and goodness.
Exodus 34:
God renews His covenant with Israel despite their failures.
He declares His character: “The Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness” (Exodus 34:6).
Moses spends 40 days on the mountain, returning with a radiant face after encountering God.
Key Themes or Lessons:
The Priority of God’s Presence – Moses understood that without God, no amount of blessing was enough. Are we willing to say the same? Do we value time with God over temporary success? (Exodus 33:15)
God’s Character is the Foundation of Our Faith – When Moses asked to see God’s glory, God revealed His nature, not just His power. Knowing who God is helps us trust Him fully (Exodus 34:6-7).
Seeking Transformation Over Transaction – The Israelites wanted God's blessings, but Moses wanted God Himself. When we pursue relationship over results, we experience true spiritual transformation (Exodus 33:18).
Devotional Application: "Seeking More of God"
Moses could have settled for a life of comfort, success, and answered prayers—but he wanted something greater. He longed for God’s presence above everything else.
It’s easy to fall into the habit of seeking God for what He can do—help with decisions, provision, healing—but are we seeking Him for who He is?
Do we carve out intentional time just to be with Him?
Do we study His character to know Him deeper?
Do we worship not just in need, but in gratitude for who He is?
If we’re not careful, we can settle for spiritual “success” without intimacy with God. But the true prize of our faith isn’t the Promised Land—it’s God Himself.

Exodus 31-32 | Waiting on God Without Wandering
Wednesday Feb 26, 2025
Wednesday Feb 26, 2025
Episode Summary:
In this episode of No Dusty Bibles, we dive into Exodus 31-32, a passage that highlights both God’s faithfulness and our struggle with impatience. While God equips His people for His work and reaffirms the importance of rest, the Israelites grow restless and create a golden calf instead of waiting for Him. How often do we do the same—turning to distractions or temporary fixes when God’s timing feels slow? Join us as we explore what it means to wait on God without wandering, trusting that His plans are always worth our patience.
Key Highlights from the Episode
Overview of the Passage:
Exodus 31:
God calls and equips Bezalel and Oholiab, filling them with His Spirit to skillfully craft the Tabernacle according to His design.
God reaffirms the Sabbath as a sacred sign of His covenant, emphasizing rest and trust in Him.
Exodus 32:
While Moses is on Mount Sinai, the Israelites grow impatient and demand a god they can see.
Aaron gives in and makes the golden calf, leading Israel into idolatry and disobedience.
Instead of waiting on God’s timing, the people take matters into their own hands—resulting in devastating consequences.
Key Themes or Lessons:
God Equips Us for His Work – Just as God filled Bezalel and Oholiab with His Spirit, He gives us the wisdom, skills, and resources we need to fulfill our calling (Exodus 31:3-5). When He calls, He also provides.
The Danger of Impatience – The Israelites grew impatient and turned to an idol instead of trusting God. Impatience can lead to compromise, causing us to settle for substitutes rather than waiting on God’s best (Exodus 32:1-4).
Resting in God’s Presence – The Sabbath command reminds us that rest is an act of trust. Waiting on God means choosing faith over frantic striving, believing He is always at work, even when we can’t see it (Exodus 31:13-17).
Devotional Application: "Trusting God in the Waiting"
Waiting on God isn’t easy. When answers don’t come as quickly as we hope, we can be tempted to take matters into our own hands—just like the Israelites did with the golden calf.
Maybe we distract ourselves with busyness instead of pressing into prayer.
Maybe we rush into decisions rather than waiting on God’s guidance.
Maybe we look to worldly comforts instead of trusting that He will provide.
But faithfulness means trusting God in the waiting. When we replace Him with temporary solutions, we miss out on His perfect plan. Instead of wandering, let’s commit to resting in His timing, knowing that His presence is worth the wait.

Reflection Prompts:
Trusting God’s Timing: The Israelites turned to idols when they grew impatient. Are there areas in your life where you struggle to wait on God? How can you choose trust over control?
Recognizing Modern Idols: The golden calf was a visible substitute for God. What are the “golden calves” in your life—things you turn to for comfort, security, or distraction instead of fully relying on God?
Faithful in the Waiting: Moses remained in God’s presence, while the Israelites lost focus. How can you stay spiritually anchored when God seems silent or His answers feel delayed?
Closing Encouragement:
Thank you for joining me today on No Dusty Bibles! God’s timing is always perfect, and His presence is worth the wait. If you’re in a season of uncertainty, don’t settle for a substitute—trust that He is working, even when you can’t see it.
